Healing through Self-love and Support

The more I love and support myself, the more I heal - Tanaaz Chubb

Whenever I struggle with my mental health, I turn to my mantra book for relief. Today I came across this mantra, and I felt it was perfect for what I am in need of.

I am feeling disconnected from my emotions and feeling numb. I know I need to get in touch with my mind, body and spirit.

Self-love is so important to healing because it turns off negative self-talk. It also encourages the emotions to flow as your mind is now a safe place. Once you can detect what emotions you are experiencing, you can name them and work through them.

As an example, I am now aware that I am feeling overexcited. This doesn’t fit the facts as it is a quiet Tuesday morning. I am not at an amusement park. I am aware that my mood is elevated, so I will talk with my treatment team. In the meantime, I will practice meditation, yoga, and walking to calm my mood.

By turning to my treatment team, I am supporting myself by getting the resources I need to remain in a balanced state of mind.

Let’s say that you connect to your emotions and discover you feel sad. Maybe you have recently ended a relationship. In this case, your emotion fits the facts, and we can do a few things to lessen the intensity of your emotions. You can watch funny videos on YouTube. You can call a friend and make plans. You could also journal to work out what you are feeling.

I hope this post helps you to identify your emotions and handle them with self-love and support. Let me know in the comments if you have a topic you would like me to write about. Have a great day.
