How Music Helped My Self-care Routine

When I first started my self-care routine, I read that taking the time to celebrate my successes would make me more consistent.
At first, I would eat a snack, but that was no good because I had a complicated relationship with food.
Next, I went shopping to get something, but then I spent too much money.
Both of these habits were compulsive and resulted in excessive eating or shopping. They also resulted in a short-term reward, followed by a long-term loss.
Then I saw a post somewhere that suggested that listening to a happy, energetic song is the perfect reward. It doesn’t result in excessive weight or spending, so the post had my attention.
It is enjoyable to dance around and sing while you listen to your favorite song. The energy from having fun stays with you, and you extend the party by listening to your favorite playlist. Spotify has a free subscription option, so it doesn’t cost you anything.
Listening to music was an awesome reward for me because I love music. It even motivated me to write this blog post and connect with each of you.
