How my self-care journey began

When I started my self-care journey, I kept it super simple. I wanted to begin my day with a glass of water. This task required minimal time and effort, but I heard that I would feel instantly better. Apparently, people are slightly dehydrated in the morning.
I would place a glass of water near my bed in the evening, and drink it every morning. I felt accomplished and committed. I was following through at a time when I needed self-care.
My success with the glass of water drove me to add another habit to my day -- meditation. I would meditate for 5 minutes after my glass of water. I sat down and pull up a guided meditation.
Sometimes I would concentrate on the meditation, but other times my mind would wander. I wasn’t looking for perfection. I was looking to be more present. Either way it felt so good to get in touch with my mind, body, and spirit.

The next habit up was exercise. I alternated between yoga and walking because I enjoy both of these forms of exercise. I considered ten minutes a success, but I often did more because I felt great after exercising.

As the weeks went by, I added different self-care habits, and it was magical. I felt more centered and happier. I began to spend more time with my friends and family. I was on the journey towards my best self. What are some of you favorite types of self-care? Comment below.
