Not All Change is Bad

"There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind." — C.S. Lewis

I get anxious and worried when things out of my control change. For example, I attended my gym consistently and loved how it made me feel. I was enjoying the fitness classes and the pool. I had started to swim laps. It was awesome.
Then the bad news came. The gym would shut down in a month. I was devastated. I was worried that I would lose my momentum.
I started searching for a local gym with fitness classes and a pool. I wanted a gym nearby because I worried I wouldn’t go if I had to drive far.
I found one gym that met my needs and went for a tour. While it wasn’t as pretty as my former gym, it was good enough for me.
I also noticed on my tour that people were talking to each other in the weight and cardio rooms and the pool. That stood out for me because no one spoke to each other at my former gym.
I signed up that day and got started on a treadmill. Over the week, I attended several fitness classes and met a few kind members. They went out of their way to make me feel included in the fun.
I was so happy I had changed gyms. Not only was I exercising more, but I was having fun. I also made a few friends that I wouldn’t have made at my former gym.
I was upset and worried when I received word that my former gym was closing, but it worked out. I need to remember that change can happen for the better. You just need to be open to the new opportunities.
I could have avoided my anxious and worried feelings if I had remembered that not all change is bad.
