Simple Routines for a Healthier Life

You can make small changes to your life that have big returns.  Each of these ideas is free and easy to incorporate into your day.


Nutrition

Proper nutrition improve your mood and overall health

Proper nutrition can be hard to change because you may feel overwhelmed by all of the information out there.  How about getting started with eating some healthy snacks? 


You can replace chips with fruit and cottage cheese.  The cottage cheese provides you with protein which helps you feel fuller.  You can also try veggies with sour cream and onion dip.  


Stretching

Stretching is key to a balanced life

Stretching is a great way to feel better overall.  You will improve your posture, and reduce pain and stress.  You will also improve your flexibility.  What is surprising to me is that stretching improves your mood and focus.  


There are so many videos with stretching routines on YouTube, so it is easy to get started on your stretching routine.


Hydration

Drinking water is awesome for your mental and physical life.

Getting enough water is key to feeling better, especially in the summer.  You will be able to recall things much easier, and you will have a more stable mood.  You will have more energy.  Without water, you will feel sluggish, less focused, and tired.  Getting enough water is crucial for optimal brain health overall, so fill up your water bottles and drink some water today.


Self-massage

One of the benefits of self-massage is it promotes relaxation, which reduces stress and anxiety.  You can get started today for free as there are videos on YouTube.  Habit stack this routine with your stretching to ensure you practice this regularly.


Journaling

Journal for your anxiety and processing your emotions

You can get negative thoughts out of your head, and reduce your stress levels.  Processing your worries is so freeing.  You can also get in touch with your feelings, which is therapeutic.  You can get started with any notebook, or try to write on your computer or tablet.


The most important thing for you to do is to get started.  Just pick one of these routines, whichever one calls to you.  What I like most about these routines, is that they are all free and require little effort.  Remember that consistency is key to change.
